Shircago (Shir: Hebrew for "sing" or "song") is a coed
Jewish a cappella vocal ensemble based out of
Chicago.
Our repertoire ranges from classical to pop, from English to Hebrew and even Yiddish and Ladino, from traditional melodies to original compositions and
innovative arrangements.
We perform at B'nai Mitzvah, weddings, birthday parties, retirement homes, conferences,
festivals, and private engagements. Our brand of Jewish a cappella music is also a perfect choice for occasions in which instrumental music is forbidden.
Shircago welcomes soprano Jan Slavin and bass Jon Norton, expanding to a quintet for the first time since 2003!
We have been selected for the first-ever Best of Jewish A Cappella album. Our track "Hiney Ba Hashalom" is featured. You can buy this CD, coming in at over 80 minutes long, right here!
Shircago competed in the Chicago Harmony Sweepstakes on March 24th at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts. As in 2003, the last time we were in the show, Nightwatch has again emerged victorious.Find more details here.
Our snazzy studio CD is avaliable for purchase! It makes a great gift. You can listen to samples from every track on the CD and then buy it with credit card right here!
N.B. One of the most commonly misspelled terms in vocal music today is "a cappella". It is often spelled as "acappella", "a capella", or even "acapella". The correct spelling, however, is "a cappella" (2 P's, 2 L's).
